Bring Back The Supermodel by Jenny Holland for THE CRITIC

In our upside down world, having and, God forbid, expressing [un]popular, politically [in]correct opinions makes you “pro establishment.” There once was a time when people were educated and well-adjusted enough to think and speak for themselves. Those days are long gone and with them went the relevance of most artists who dared to embrace their individuality even if it meant facing harsh criticism and unfair judgement or being ignored.

What happened to being a first rate version of yourself rather than a second rate version of someone else? You don't hear that anymore, do you? That's because the useful idiots – “influencers” and other blue checkmark types – who you think are leading you to enlightenment are actually leading you like sheep to the slaughter.

I used to love coming across websites and Flickr feeds of photographers whose work inspired and motivated me to create beautiful portraits and landscapes of my own. Unfortunately, photography nowadays is going has gone the way of music. Very rarely do I find something worthwhile. At best, to borrow the words of Fight Club author Chuck Palahniuk, “everything is a copy of a copy.”

Happy two years of #twoweekstoflattenthecurve.

For some time, I've been on an off-and-on hiatus. I did some traveling in 2018 and 2019 before the world devolved into a state of media-induced mass hysteria. The time I spent in Paris and Milan had me shooting regularly and I find myself missing those days.
